Tom Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans, has died. He was 90 years old.
A statement released by the NFL and NBA teams said Benson passed away peacefully Thursday at Ochsner Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since February after suffering flu-like symptoms.
The statement said his wife Gayle was by his side.
Benson purchased the Saints in 1985 and the Pelicans in 2012.
Funeral arraignments are pending.
