The gunman who opened fire early today on a group of Republican lawmakers has been identified. His name is James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois. He's 66-years-old and once owned a home inspection business . President Trump announced this morning from the White House that Hodgkinson has died from a gunshot wound after firing at members of Congress practicing for a baseball game in Alexandria, Virginia. A Facebook page for a user named James Hodgkinson from Belleville lists several posts that included anti-Trump rhetoric and strong support for Senator Bernie Sanders. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise [[ skall-EESE ]], two Capitol Police officers and a congressional aide were shot and injured at a ball field. Scalise is recovering. The President called Scalise a "true fighter."
