Governor Signs Bill Making New State Flag Official

The new state flag is now flying at the Capitol. Governor Reeves on Monday signed legislation ratifying the new flag design approved by voters in November. Reeves said the old flag with its Confederate emblem was a "roadblock to unity" in Mississippi. He called it "one step in a long journey" but said flying a new flag enables the state to "turn the page". Reeves later joined Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann and House Speaker Philip Gunn for a ceremony raising the new flag over the Capitol.
